Course Description:
This home study course provides clinicians with practical, trauma-informed strategies to integrate EMDR therapy with Sandtray Therapy in an online format. Participants will explore the 8 phases of EMDR and learn how to apply them through sandtray, play, and expressive techniques in a virtual setting. The course emphasizes play-based approaches that support emotional regulation, co-regulation, attachment repair, and trauma processing for children and families.

Clinicians will gain tools to deliver developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive interventions, understand the Therapeutic Powers of Play, and apply play-based strategies to promote safety, connection, and healing. This course is ideal for therapists seeking to expand their skills in virtual therapy while maintaining fidelity to both EMDR and play therapy principles.

Learning Objectives:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe and apply the 8 phases of EMDR therapy: History Taking, Preparation, Assessment, Desensitization, Installation, Body Scan, Closure, and Reevaluation through the lens of Online Sandtray Therapy integration.
  2. Demonstrate understanding and application of Sandtray Therapy skills, tools, and directives in a remote therapy context.
  3. Apply play-based interventions including sandtray and Therapeutic Powers of Play to support emotional regulation, trauma processing, and co-regulation in children and families in developmentally appropriate and culturally responsive ways.
  4. Identify challenges and solutions for delivering therapy virtually ensuring client engagement, safety, and therapeutic effectiveness.
  5. Integrate EMDR and play therapy principles to create structured, relational, and effective home study interventions that foster client growth and healing.

Target Audience:
Licensed or license-eligible mental health professionals including psychologists, social workers, counselors, and marriage and family therapists interested in online EMDR and Sandtray Therapy integration.
