Play, Sandtray, and EMDR Therapy Integration
A transformative 5-day retreat-style training for EMDR therapists, hosted at Momma Owl’s Minis in Molino, Florida.
November 18–22, 2026 Molino, Florida
Heal Generations. Transform Lives. Reconnect to What Matters.
This isn’t just a training… it’s a movement.
ReWILDing is the return to what heals when survival has narrowed the nervous system. It brings trauma work back to the places where real processing happens.
In this training, ReWILDing is not a theme or a vibe.
It is a clinical orientation you will learn to apply with skill, structure, and care.
All required training information, including learning objectives, session descriptions, continuing education details, and instructor credentials, can be found in the Agenda and CE Info tabs.
Together we bring decades of experience in EMDR, Sandtray, play therapy, and nature-based trauma work. You will be taught with warmth, precision, and real-world clinical integrity.

ReWILDing is built for therapists across pathways. If you are drawn to this work, you belong here.
You want an advanced integration that stays true to AIP and all 8 phases, while widening the doorways clients use to access and complete processing.
You want a clear, embodied understanding of EMDR and how ReWILDing supports trauma healing across settings, even if you have not completed basic training yet.
You already know that play and creativity reach what talk cannot. You want to integrate that power with trauma processing in a more structured, nervous system informed way.
You want to deepen clinical precision and learn how Sandtray supports targets, phases, and integration, indoors and outdoors, across populations.
You are already working with the body and the living world. You want a coherent framework that connects what you do to trauma resolution with structure and safety.
We train as one ReWILDing community. The only difference is continuing education eligibility. Details will be shared in the CE menu once approvals are finalized.
You already know trauma resolution can happen. You also know that many clients cannot get there through words alone, or through an office chair alone.
Not by adding noise, but by restoring the pathways humans have always used to metabolize pain and return to wholeness.
Learn the ReWILDing framework across EMDR, play, and Sandtray.
Practice it indoors and outdoors through live demonstrations and small group work.
Leave with a repeatable method you can use with any population and in any setting.
EMDR, Sandtray, and play are fully integrated throughout the entire training. You will not learn them as separate pieces. You will learn how they work together in real clinical moments, across all 8 phases and across all five days.
We teach and practice the integration in two places on purpose.
That means you will see, feel, and practice what it looks like to
That braid is ReWILDing. It is fidelity plus aliveness.
You will watch it, feel it, practice it, and leave able to use it. Each phase is taught in three ways:
AIP-informed history taking that includes body tracking, environment attunement, and lineage mapping. You will practice how to listen for intergenerational threads and translate them into targets and treatment planning.
Nature-based and play-informed resourcing that builds safety and readiness through rhythm, movement, sensory support, and symbolic regulation. You will practice preparation sequences with real pacing and guardrails.
Assessment through talk, Sandtray, drawing, and movement while staying anchored in NC, PC, VOC, SUD, and body location. You will watch live demos, then practice in small groups.
Standard protocols supported by walking bilateral stimulation, tactile and auditory nature-based BLS options, and play-informed bilateral activities that remain inside EMDR pacing. You will participate in live EMDR demonstrations indoors and outdoors.
Installation that makes adaptive beliefs embodied. Somatic anchoring and symbolic acts strengthen the adaptive network rather than decorate it. You will practice clean installation sequences.
Somatic precision with nature and Sandtray as sensory mirrors when residual disturbance is hard to name. You will practice tracking, clearing, and completing the scan.
Closure that stabilizes through rhythm, ritual, and nervous system settling. Office-based and outdoor closure sequences that fit any client and setting.
Reevaluation with whole-brain awareness, felt sense, and symbolic check-ins that support long-arc healing, including intergenerational repair markers.
You will watch full sessions taught through ReWILDing so you can see timing, language, pacing, and clinical fidelity in real time.
You will learn facilitation and be in the work yourself. The method becomes real in your own nervous system.
You will practice nature-based regulation and bilateral movement in ways you can translate to any environment, including indoor offices.
You will also have steady space for reflection, consultation, and integration held with depth and safety.
The training runs Wednesday through Sunday. Each day builds the ReWILDing arc, from grounding and orienting, to bridging past and present, to deepening emotional healing, to nervous system and neurobiology focused practice, and finally a closing ceremony that helps you carry the work back into your clinical life.
Full days Wednesday and Thursday, slightly shorter deep-dive days Friday and Saturday, and a short closing morning Sunday. All times Central. See the full agenda.
Step onto each stone to see what happens that day, and watch your CE hours grow toward 24.
Symbolic nature-based Sandtray miniatures
packed in your keepsake burlap bag
This is a method you can carry into any setting with any population.
All-inclusive investment covers training, lodging at Miss Patty’s Retreat Center, meals, supplies, and all materials and clinician kit.
This is not a training you’ll walk away from unchanged.
You’ll experience what it means to ReWILD your work, and yourself, in ways that expand your practice and stay with you long after the retreat ends.
Whether you practice indoors, outdoors, or somewhere in between, ReWILDing EMDR offers a full continuum of application.
You’ll leave with tools and insights that translate across settings, supporting deep, regulated healing wherever your work takes place.
5 sessions · Wednesday, November 18 – Sunday, November 22, 2026 · Up to 24 CE credit hours
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM CDT
ReWild1 · Day 1
Alisha Denham, Catherine Denham, Jackie Flynn
Day 1 of ReWilding Sandtray Therapy will introduce you to the profound power of Sandtray Therapy as a tool for healing and self-expression. This immersive day is designed to lay the groundwork for understanding how play facilitates emotional and psychological healing, and how Sandtray Therapy can be integrated into your work with both children and adults.
We will explore how the act of creating symbolic worlds in the sand allows clients to express complex emotions and life experiences that might be difficult to articulate. Through the use of miniatures and symbolic representations, clients are empowered to externalize their inner worlds, giving them a sense of control and agency in their healing journey. By engaging in the tactile experience of shaping sand and creating meaningful representations, clients reconnect with themselves in a way that is deeply embodied and holistic.
In addition to learning the theoretical underpinnings of Sandtray Therapy, you will have the opportunity to engage in experiential exercises, where you’ll begin to understand how this approach can facilitate deep emotional expression, integrate mind and body, and promote healing. By the end of Day 1, you’ll gain a foundational understanding of how Sandtray Therapy can be used to create a nonverbal, playful space that encourages emotional release and psychological transformation, providing your clients with a powerful tool for personal healing.
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM CDT
ReWild2 · Day 2
Alisha Denham, Catherine Denham, Jackie Flynn
On Day 2 of ReWilding Sandtray Therapy, we will dive deeper into the practical application of Sandtray techniques, focusing on how this modality can be used to address trauma, anxiety, and family dynamics in play-based therapy. Through symbolic play, we will explore how Sandtray can facilitate profound emotional healing, particularly with children, by creating safe spaces where ReWilding and transformation can take place.
You will learn how to utilize Sandtray therapy to help clients process trauma, reduce anxiety, and navigate family dynamics, facilitating an integrated healing journey through play. We will explore structured, playful exercises that can be tailored to children and adults, encouraging emotional expression and healing through symbolic play.
The day will also include an opportunity to reflect on case notes, learning how to document the healing process and the symbolic play used in clients’ sandtray creations, emphasizing the therapeutic goals and ReWilding outcomes. We’ll also explore how to integrate Sandtray with other therapeutic modalities, like EMDR and narrative therapy, reinforcing the ReWilding value of play and its therapeutic potential.
Ethical considerations will be addressed, ensuring that boundaries, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity are maintained within a nonjudgmental and playful therapeutic setting. Finally, you will learn to foster a playful, nonjudgmental environment in Sandtray therapy, empowering clients to express themselves and heal creatively, both emotionally and symbolically.
Throughout the day, we’ll examine Phases 3-7 of Sandtray Therapy, focusing on how each phase facilitates emotional expression, trauma integration, and healing through symbolic play. We will also reflect on the significance of Phase 8 (Reevaluation and Closure), exploring how this phase supports ReWilding by helping clients integrate their experiences, ensuring lasting transformation.
By the end of Day 2, you will have the tools and insights to create more structured therapeutic experiences with Sandtray, helping clients experience deep healing through the process of play and ReWilding.
8:45 AM – 3:00 PM CDT
